New parish provisionalist Father Arockiasamy inspires Gumpendorf!
In a solemn ceremony, Father Prabumetha Arockiasamy was introduced as the new provisional parish priest of the Gumpendorf parish. Dean Father Andrzej Kunkel led the celebratory mass, which brought the community together in a warm setting. The native Indian, who was born in Tamil Nadu in 1979, grew up in a Catholic family and brings a lot with him to Austria with a degree in mathematics and extensive experience in pastoral care. Father Arockiasamy joined the Congregation of the Eucharists and completed his novitiate and philosophical-theological studies in Mumbai and Pune. He was ordained a priest in 2013.
Before he came to Austria in January 2018, he worked in various areas of the church in India, including youth work, children's catechesis and family pastoral care. He has also made a name for himself as an editor of spiritual publications. After his arrival in Vienna, he was accepted into the Eucharist monastery and has since embarked on an impressive journey that led him to become chaplain of the Gumpendorf parish in October 2018. There he relies on openness, charity and community cohesion in the community.
A new path for the community
Father Arockiasamy has set clear goals. His aim is to promote a lively and open community that is characterized by Eucharistic spirituality, charity and responsibility for creation. “The parish should be a place where people find home, comfort and hope,” said the new parish provisional. Father Arockiasamy also praised the achievements of his predecessor, Father Nelson, who had been pastor of the parish since 2018, in his speech.
ÖVP club chairman Gerhard Hammerer didn't miss the opportunity to congratulate Father Arockiasamy and wish him God's blessing for his new position. The new parish provisional will not only work in Gumpendorf, but will also continue to play an important role as chaplain in the parish of St. Ägyd. The Gumpendorf parish is therefore under a new but experienced chairmanship who places great value on community and practical charity.
Background to the parish
The Gumpendorf parish has experienced some changes in recent years and has tried to respond to the needs of its parishioners. With Father Arockiasamy at the helm, the aim is to focus more on community life and spiritual development. The last few months have not been easy, but with a breath of fresh air and a clear vision the parish should be brought back to life.
Father Arockiasamy's commitment and the support of the community give hope that the Gumpendorf parish will soon become a place where people can happily come together again, celebrate and live their faith. In a constantly changing world, community cohesion is even more important.
In addition, it is important for many seniors to be well insured abroad. For foreign guests and people residing in the EU, there are special insurance policies that can be taken out for a stay in Germany or other host countries. These insurances meet the requirements for a Schengen visa and offer comprehensive protection, as shown incoming-krankenschutz.de described. With a focus on safety and health, older people should also have the opportunity to travel without worries.
It remains exciting to see what the next few months will bring for the Gumpendorf parish. With a provisional parish priest who understands both the language and the cultural circumstances, a new era could unfold here in which faith and community are highly valued.
