An alarming major fire at the Rossbacher recycling plant in Nußdorf-Debant is keeping East Tyrol in suspense. The flames were reported to the Tyrol police state control center on June 28, 2025 shortly after 1:25 p.m. Since then, firefighters from several East Tyrolean communities have been deployed to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further. The state of Tyrol is currently speaking clearly and appealing to the population not to light traditional Sacred Heart fires in order not to aggravate the situation, as 5min.at reports.
The deployment of emergency services is significant, with seven fire departments and around 130 people working on site. In addition to the fire brigade operation, the railway has already reacted: traffic between Lienz and Oberdrauburg has been temporarily suspended.
