Billa in Third: New market impresses with freshness and sustainability!
In Vienna's third district, the new Billa market has reopened its doors after two months of renovations. With a generous market area of 770 square meters, the branch now has a modern design with an inviting glass facade and a friendly ambience. Here they focus on regionality, quality and sustainability - at least that's what attracts the attention of customers, and that will certainly be well received. According to that Vienna district newspaper There are 18 employees who now ensure that customers always receive good advice.
Billa, a supermarket chain that was founded in 1953 by Karl Wlaschek and is now active in several countries in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, has focused on good local supplies and freshness for almost 70 years. Wlaschek originally started with a discount perfume store in Vienna before opening the first Billa branch under the motto “cheap store”. Customers can now expect regular price promotions, including the popular -25% stickers, category discounts and various promotional offers such as “1+1” or “2+1” promotions, as reported on Wikipedia is to be read.
Sustainability and regionality in the range
Sustainability is a top priority in the new Billa branch. The range is characterized by clear labeling of regional and national products. The market works closely with over 1,300 partners, including more than 500 in Vienna. Particularly noteworthy is the introduction of three self-checkout lanes, which make shopping easier and faster. This means customers can count on a modern shopping experience that is tailored entirely to their needs.
Particularly noteworthy is the large fresh produce area, which offers seasonal fruit, vegetables and meat products from local origins. Since 2020, Billa has been relying exclusively on fresh meat and poultry from Austria, with products with high animal welfare standards bearing the “Fair to the Animal” label. The supermarket is also involved by donating unsold but edible food to the Foodpoint social market. This shows that there is also an awareness of sustainability and social responsibility in retail.
Technical innovation and energy efficiency
There will also be no savings when it comes to equipping the new branch. Modern LED and refrigeration technology ensures energy efficiency, and heating using waste heat from cooling systems makes the market CO₂-neutral. In addition, the entire energy requirement is covered with 100 percent green electricity from Austria. Billa proves that economic success and responsible behavior do not have to be mutually exclusive - shopping is twice as much fun.
By reopening, Billa is sending a strong message to the local community and its needs. The new market not only acts as a sales point, but also as a meeting place that offers the numerous Viennese fresh, regional products in a pleasant atmosphere. It will be interesting to see how well these innovations will be received in the popular supermarket!
