Vienna in Advent fever: First Christmas market opens today!
The smell of roasted almonds and mulled wine wafts through the streets of Vienna - the Christmas season has begun! Today, November 6th, 2025, the first Christmas markets in Vienna will open their doors, and the anticipation of the city residents is unmistakable. The popular one starts Advent market in Hietzing, which will remain open until January 6th. Over 90 stands await visitors, and a special children's program ensures that even the little ones get their money's worth.
Two more markets will follow on November 13th: the Christmas market at the main train station and the Christmas market at Rathausplatz. The main station market not only offers atmospheric stalls, but also a curling rink and a carousel for the little ones, and is open daily from 2 p.m. until December 20th. The Christmas market on Rathausplatz, a highlight among the markets, also opens its doors and will remain open until December 26th for festive treats and beautiful gifts.

November 14th is a real holiday for Christmas market lovers, as seven more markets open their doors then. These include the charming market in Spittelberg and the Christmas village in the Old General Hospital on the university campus.
