Harvest Thanksgiving Festival in Vienna: tractors, traditional costumes and culinary highlights!

On September 6th and 7th, 2025, Heldenplatz in Vienna will once again be transformed into a lively stage for the popular harvest.thanks.festival. For the third time now, the Ecosocial Forum invites the people of Vienna and guests from near and far to celebrate the diversity of Austrian cuisine and culture. The festival promises a colorful program full of tradition, entertainment and culinary delights.

It starts on Saturday from 12 p.m. with a festival committee and festive brass music, which creates a good atmosphere right from the start. Afterwards, visitors can look forward to impressive demonstrations of old and new agricultural equipment. The agricultural machinery show, which presents the entire grain harvesting chain, is particularly spectacular. The traditional costume fashion show will also be a highlight, where the latest dirndls and lederhosen will be beautifully displayed. Bouncy castles, pedal tractors and various hands-on stations are available for the little festival visitors, so that they too get their money's worth.

Conviviality and tradition on Sunday

Sunday traditionally begins with a morning pint, which offers the opportunity to end the week in good company. A striking highlight of the second day is the harvest blessing, which is led by cathedral priest Toni Faber and offers a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the joy of the harvest. The vintage tractor show will also attract numerous lovers of nostalgic agricultural technology, while the adjacent farmers' market will provide for your physical well-being with local delicacies.

The organizers have put a lot of effort into creating an informative supporting program. An educational campus will offer insights into agriculture and forestry in different facets. Those who are thirsty for knowledge will find a wealth of information here and can deepen their knowledge of sustainable agriculture. Admission to the festival is free, which makes the event particularly attractive for the entire family.

The festival finds a perfect place to celebrate the joys of autumn while celebrating rural culture. A trip to Heldenplatz is definitely worth it and promises that guests go home with full bellies and happy hearts at the end of the weekend.
