The time has come today in the Vienna Prater: the new “Sport Arena Vienna” is officially presented and brings a breath of fresh air into the local sports landscape. With an investment of 133 million euros, the multifunctional building on 13,600 square meters will be the centerpiece for popular and elite sports as well as major events. The arena also offers an impressive increase in usage capacity from 8,600 to 38,000 hours per year. In addition to 6,500 square meters for athletics, there are 3,000 square meters available for ball sports, 1,500 square meters for gymnastics and 2,000 square meters for martial arts. There are also rooms for sports science and physiotherapy, which round off the offering.

A highlight of the event

On September 10th the Sport Arena will open with a big sports festival for the whole family. Those interested in sports can also look forward to September 16th, when ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick will give training tips as part of a special event. Another highlight will be the debut of handball men's team boss Iker Romero on November 1st in the first international match against Hungary.

What is particularly worth mentioning is the independence of the three halls, which enable flexible use. Up to 15 major events per year are already being planned. In addition, the old cycle track, which no longer exists in the arena, is honored with a work of art made of wooden parts in the entrance area.

Affordable for everyone", which illustrates the city's goal of making sport accessible to everyone. Loud Vienna Offices During the planning, particular attention was paid to climate protection and the integration of sports facilities into urban development areas in order to promote movement in public spaces.

The survey of clubs, associations and experts revealed the need for additional training options, especially for indoor sports. This blueprint for the future shows once again that Vienna is on the right track when it comes to improving the sporting infrastructure and making it accessible to everyone.

With the new sports arena in the Prater, the city of Vienna has created a basis that not only supports top-class sport, but also offers interesting offers for recreational and amateur athletes. A big step in the right direction for the sports city of Vienna.
