Something is happening in the educational landscape in Floridsdorf! The elementary school at Tomaschekstrasse 44 is being expanded with an impressive addition that not only creates space for new classrooms, but also promotes modern learning concepts. Loud MyDistrict The expansion will cover an area of around 1,600 square meters on which nine new classrooms will be built. The focus here is clearly on all-day care, which will be expanded to a total of 22 classes.
The planned expansion will be designed according to the so-called cluster principle. This means that collaboration and flexible forms of learning are brought to the fore. In addition to the classrooms, the room layout also includes project and relaxation rooms as well as a textile workshop. There will also be rooms for teachers, a gymnastics room and multifunctional areas. Particularly noteworthy is the large outdoor area with a newly designed terrace, a school garden and a ball sports field, all of which invite exercise and play.
Sustainability in focus
Another advantage of this construction method is the ecological and energy-efficient design. The building is being realized as a wood-concrete hybrid construction, in which, among other things, a photovoltaic system and geothermal energy are used, complemented by a green facade. District leader Georg Papai (SPÖ) emphasizes how important investments in educational institutions are. In the last five years, over 45 million euros have been invested in schools and kindergartens.
But Floridsdorf is not only getting a new extension, but also a completely new educational campus: the “Willi Resetarits” educational facility in Hinaysgasse is also being expanded. She will, like DFZ21 reported that the kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, music school and youth center have a capacity of 1,000 children. The innovative architecture and sustainable construction – a harmonious combination of wood and concrete – enable flexible use of space with generous open spaces for the little explorers.
Both projects are part of a future-oriented educational strategy that is intended to meet the needs of children. The addition to the elementary school is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2026. If everything goes according to plan, Floridsdorf will then become an even more attractive place for young families and their children.
