Robin Hood's Ark: Food donation for those in need in Floridsdorf!

In Vienna Floridsdorf the heart beats for the people who need special support in the run-up to Christmas. The “Robin Hood’s Ark” initiative aims to help needy and homeless people. The artist Robin, who created the project, is passionate about collecting food. This important action took place on November 15th at 21-Kunsthaus-23, on a date that was not chosen by chance: November 16th is the “World Day of the Poor”, which was launched by Pope Francis in 2017 to draw attention to the need for help for those in need meinkreis.at reports.

In the weeks before the festival, Robin calls for food collection. During the last campaign, not only 53 bananas were collected, but also large boxes of fresh, long-life food. Despite rising food prices, the solidarity of donors remains unbroken. The collected food is used to prepare Advent meals for those in need and to create gift boxes for mother-child campaigns.

Food for the soul

Non-perishable foods such as rice, pasta, flour, canned goods and dairy products can still be donated on November 16th from 1 to 4 p.m. The collected goods must be unopened and stable until at least December 31, 2024; alcoholic drinks are not permitted. As a small thank you, donors receive an artistically designed New Year's lucky charm. This campaign is all about community and invites everyone to take on their responsibility and help. “Food for the needy” is the motto of the campaign, which is supported by wienerbezirksblatt.at.

Robin himself also experienced his dark side. He was rejected by a discount retailer for one of his collections, but the setbacks didn't discourage him. Instead, he continues his mission because he firmly believes in the necessity of these relief efforts. Once again he had to experience a similar campaign being launched by the discounter, while he continued to receive no support for his initiative. Nevertheless, the artist does not allow himself to be discouraged and personally ensures that small gifts are distributed among the people who rely on soup kitchens.

A heartfelt thank you

“Every donation goes directly to those in need,” says Robin, thanking them on behalf of the people who benefit from the support. His commitment shows how important it is to stand together in the community and actively help. When everyone makes a small contribution, big things can be achieved. No matter how big or small the contribution is, every help counts.
