New wind in Döbling: District councilors sworn in and construction project stopped!
The new district council was ceremoniously sworn in in Döbling on June 13, 2025. The constituent meeting took place in a festive setting, with Vienna's City Councilor for Finance Barbara Novak (SPÖ) carrying out the swearing-in. The guests of honor included prominent faces such as Adi Tiller and Markus Figl from the ÖVP. During the meeting, Daniel Resch (ÖVP) was unanimously confirmed as district leader and Robert Wutzl remains at his side as deputy. New to the team is Mahboobeh Bayat, who succeeds Thomas Mader (SPÖ) as deputy district leader, as he has moved to the local council.
Another notable change took place among the Freedom Party: Klemens Resch, who is also moving to the local council, will be replaced by Michael Eischer. The KPÖ can also look forward to having its first district council in 71 years; Johannes Breit will enrich the committee. A special eye-catcher is 18-year-old Pepe Loibner from the Greens, who is now the youngest district councilor and club chairman in Vienna.

Outlook for the next budget
But the political landscape in Vienna does not stand still: on December 12, 2024, the district budget for new buildings for 2025 was passed, which includes 7 million euros. The resolutions include significant investments, such as over 510,000 euros for climate protection measures, 400,000 euros for schools and 1.1 million euros for child and youth work, including support for local initiatives such as the flash Girls*café. District leader Markus Reiter (Greens) emphasized the importance of democracy and participation, especially for the youngest people in society.
A look at the finances shows that work with seniors is also supported with 270,000 euros. A further 450,000 euros are planned for cultural projects, which ensures that Neubau has the highest per capita cultural budget of all Vienna districts. So you can see: There are many topics in Döbling that will fuel political debates. It will be exciting to see how the new players in the district council perform and which decisions will influence the quality of life of the residents in the future.
