New momentum for Vienna: Sepp Schellhorn fights against bureaucracy!
A district meeting recently took place in Vienna, at which Sepp Schellhorn, who returned to politics after a short break, discussed central issues of bureaucracy and digitalization goals. Schellhorn, who left political life in 2021, emphasized that he is now approaching the challenges with new energy and would like to contribute his experience as an entrepreneur. For him, this return is not a perceived duty, but rather a conscious comeback that is supported with fresh enthusiasm.
A central topic of the meeting were around 140 proposals for reducing bureaucracy, which are to be presented in the coming days. Schellhorn and his team worked with six lawyers from the Foreign Ministry and a newly set up website to develop concrete reform steps. Many of the suggestions are so-called “low hanging fruits”, such as adjustments to pickerel regulations and business licenses. These measures are intended to noticeably relieve the burden on both citizens and companies and are directly related to the goals of digitizing administration.
Focus on reducing bureaucracy
The issue of reducing bureaucracy is a top priority not only at the local level, but also on the national political stage. The federal cabinet under Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger recently approved eight draft laws to reduce bureaucracy and ease the burden on citizens and companies. The initiatives aim to achieve at least 100 million euros in relief in the coming months. The measures include a simplified trade regulation and the lifting of numerous reporting requirements, as Zeit Online reports.
The federal government has also set up a committee of state secretaries dedicated to reducing unnecessary bureaucracy. This is intended to accelerate the modernization of the state and reduce administrative costs. Sepp Schellhorn sees this as a supporting basis for his own initiatives and emphasizes how important clear simplifications and digital solutions are in complex subject areas.
Invitation to the next discussion
However, working alone is not enough; discussions are also necessary. Sepp Schellhorn invites everyone interested to the next round of discussions, which will take place on December 19th at 7 p.m. Important political topics are to be addressed here, where the focus is on the exchange between politics, business and citizens.
Overall, it is clear that there is a clear will at both local and national levels to improve conditions for everyone involved. The objectives are clear: less bureaucracy, more efficiency and lasting relief for citizens and companies. These initiatives could not only reduce administrative burdens, but also enable significant financial savings of up to 12 billion euros, as Sepp Schellhorn vividly explains.
There are exciting times ahead for Vienna and beyond when it comes to the further development of the political landscape and the digitalization of services. The course has been set, now it is time to implement the promised changes.
