The pre-Christmas season is fast approaching and brings a festive atmosphere to the St. Veit district. From November 28th, the Christmas market in St. Veit will shine in all its splendour. Mayor Martin Kulmer (SPÖ) will ring in the opening with lots of festivities at 5 p.m. From smoked products to festive decorations and small treasures – the selection is impressive. With numerous providers, including the Holzmann Café-Pastry Shop and the Konrad Pfandl butcher shop, there will be a diverse experience. The program also promises entertainment through a hands-on circus, a gift shop and theater performances, while the band “Gran Tourismo” provides musical highlights.
A few days later, from November 30th, the Christmas market in the city park in Althofen will also open. Here guests can look forward to craftsmanship and delicious hot drinks. There are great attractions for little visitors with the Christmas train, carousel and pony rides. Live music is also planned on Advent Saturdays from 5 p.m., so there will be no shortage of festive atmosphere.

Inspiration from Germany
But the festive season doesn't end at the border. If you're planning a trip, you shouldn't miss Germany's most famous Christmas markets. The Cologne cathedral turns into a sea of lights that offers over 150 stalls with handicrafts and culinary delicacies. The market opens its doors from November 21st to December 23rd, 2025. It is also particularly atmospheric Stuttgart Christmas market with traditionally decorated stalls between Schlossplatz and Karlsplatz, where the scent of cinnamon and vanilla hangs in the air.
Another highlight is the Christmas market in the Ravenna Gorge, which is popular far beyond the country's borders and is uniquely located under a historic railway viaduct. The market welcomes visitors on Advent weekends - it is known for its unique romantic atmosphere and a wide range of regional products. The Rothenburg Reiterlesmarkt also enchants in a fairytale setting with its wooden stalls and the legendary “Reiterle” from the 15th century. It will open its doors from November 28th.
The run-up to Christmas offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the contemplative atmosphere and find unique gifts. Whether in St. Veit or in the neighboring towns – the magic of the Advent markets can be felt everywhere.
