New HTU team at TU Vienna: Focus on student interests!
With a breath of fresh air and a clear goal, the new leadership team of the TU Wien University Student Union (HTU) took over the helm on July 1, 2025. The key figures – Astrid Albrecht-Kramreiter, Lukas Wurth, Mehmet Koyun and Marvin Kleinlehner – put all their energy into representing the students and their concerns. Her approaches are diverse and promise an exciting term in office.
Gone are the days of rigid structures. The team has set itself ambitious goals: continuing the work of its predecessors, increasing awareness of HTU services, professionalizing internal processes and transparency in HTU work. In order to achieve these goals, the members rely on a dynamic and communicative way of working - a permanent 9-to-5 job is out of the question for them. Long working days and numerous meetings are part of her everyday life.
A diverse range of tasks
The individual team members bring different strengths. Astrid takes care of the representation in the Senate, the university representation and the finances of the HTU. Marvin has an eye on the area of diversity and equality for women, whereby he also focuses on public relations and exchange with different communities. Mehmet ensures that student representatives are sent and takes care of important events such as the TU Ball and the cafeteria options. Lukas is responsible for the administration of the HTU and quality assurance in teaching and wants to optimally prepare students for professional life with the fuTUre fit strategy.
The backgrounds of the members are just as diverse: Astrid and Mehmet have already gained experience in the physics student council, while Marvin came to HTU through the sports department. Lukas brings with him experience from a previous chairmanship team, which gives the new team valuable continuity.
Commitment to equal treatment
In addition to the organizational concerns, the team also attaches great importance to equal treatment and anti-feminist issues. The HTU's Department for Equal Treatment and Feminism is a central contact point for students. The aim here is to promote a society in which equality prevails regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion or origin. The focus is on queer feminism and supporting groups that experience discrimination.
A special highlight is the announced queer-feminist self-defense course for FLINTA people. The course, which promotes technology and self-confidence, will take place at the TU Vienna on January 18, 2025. The organizers hope that this will strengthen the participants' feeling of security and ability to act.
Protection against discrimination at universities
Universities have an increasing responsibility to protect against discrimination. More and more educational institutions are implementing programs aimed at identifying and combating discrimination. The “Discrimination-Free University” initiative supports universities in developing suitable measures, while brochures such as “Building blocks for systematic protection against discrimination at universities” offer valuable instructions. Such protection is essential to ensure a respectful and safe learning environment.
In this committed atmosphere at TU Wien, not only academic exchange flourishes, but also support for everyone who wants to develop in a discrimination-free environment. The HTU team is ready to face the challenges and loudly represent the voice of the students. They definitely have a good knack for it!
