Orange Week in Vienna: Discover creative solutions to combat waste!
From November 25th to 29th, 2025, the 48er Tandler in Vienna will once again become the center of the sustainable movement. The popular “Orange Week” invites everyone to get actively involved in combating waste and experiencing environmental protection up close. The event, which is taking place for the third time this year, has established itself as a real alternative to the widespread Black Friday. The motto “Reuse instead of buying new” is the focus, and a varied program ensures lots of fun and creative inspiration.
Visitors can expect many sustainable offers in the 48er-Tandler. From the popular Müllkasperl for the little ones to sewing cafés and repair cafés, there is something for everyone. At “Life Hack Day”, the opening of Orange Week on Tuesday at 4 p.m., guests can collect creative tips at various stations and try out how to cleverly repair or repurpose things. Climate City Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky emphasizes how important it is to promote reuse, repairs and exchanges, because this not only protects the environment, but is often also cheap and creative.
Diverse workshops and activities
The program goes far beyond simple sales promotions. With the support of Vienna's adult education centers, furniture repair courses are offered and second-hand fashion consultations are carried out. Clothes swaps and special events for young and old are also planned - all completely free of charge. Here you can not only consume sustainably, but also do something for a good cause: the proceeds from second-hand shopping benefit charitable institutions.
In the spirit of the circular economy, a concept promoted by the EU, Orange Week is a step in the right direction. The growing global demand for products is leading to increasing consumption of resources and increased waste. The aim of the circular economy is to establish sustainable production and consumption patterns and thus reduce the consumption of primary resources. Organizers and participants are actively contributing to promoting recycling and reuse - the cornerstones of a future suitable for grandchildren.
A call to participate
Orange Week 2025 is not only an opportunity to have fun, but also an important platform to raise awareness about environmental protection. Everyone can be part of this movement and rethink their own consumer behavior. “Join us and show that acting sustainably is fun and easy,” invite the organizers. For further details, those interested can visit the 48er-Tandler website and find out about the complete program.
