Pearson secures the Principal's in a dramatic game!
Liesing, Südafrika - On June 10, 2025, Hannes Strydom Field Field was an exciting rugby duel that captivated the spectators. The pupils of the Pearson High School prevailed in a nerve-wracking encounter against the team of Daniel Pienaar with 41-36. This victory secured the coveted Principal’s, which was donated by the former director Andre van Staden. However, the victory was anything but straightforward.
The Pearson boys started strongly and already led at half-time with 26-10. But the opponents from Daniel Pienaar blew to attack and managed to get to 26-24 in the second half. Two experienced attempts by Chibuzo David and Etto Mapapu, each successfully transformed by Ashley Liesing, ensured this upswing. Pearson promptly countered with two own attempts by Nicholas Gillespie and Robert Harris and seemed to regain control.

A turning point occurred in the 45th minute when Daniel Pienaar received a red card for a dangerous tackling. Despite the numerical inferiority, the students of Daniel Pienaar showed incredible fighting spirit and achieved two further attempts by Denovan Booysen and Rozario Grootboom, which made them compensation at 36-36. But with only ten minutes on the clock it was Matthew Els who made the decisive attempt for Pearson and thus secured victory.
In the further record of the Rugby Day, Pearson High School also had good results: the U/15 A team won 19-7 and the U/16 A team triumphed with 39-26. Unfortunately, the U/14 A and B teams as well as the 3rd and 4. team had to take bitter defeats. Nevertheless, the school management emphasized the commitment and hard work of the students in their sport, which shows how important the promotion of school sports is.

not only dominated Pearson's students in rugby, but also in hockey. The U16A girls 'team sensationally won against Kingswood with 11 goals, while the first girls' team was able to celebrate a narrow 2-1 victory. These successes help to further strengthen the school's sporting reputation.
Overall, this day has once again shown how much passion and commitment in school sports. The importance of sport in schools is becoming increasingly important, which is also underlined by the current developments in sporting training. In its decisions, the KMK made it clear that the promotion of school sports and the qualification of teachers are central to inspire pupils for exercise and sport and thus promote a healthy lifestyle.
