Viennese bloom on: 49 new garden parcels for Floridsdorf and Donaustadt!

Floridsdorf, Österreich - The dream of your own garden has now come true for some Viennese. As part of the pilot project "Wiener Stadtgartl" , a total of 49 garden parcels were given to the lucky owners. The raffle was very well received, because more than 9,000 people took part.

The garden parcels, which are between 70 and 110 square meters tall, are located at two locations: in Julius-Ficker-Straße in Floridsdorf and on the Biberhaufweg in the Donaustadt. During the handover that took place at the beginning of the summer vacation, Vice Mayor Kathrin Gaál (SPÖ) was also present and was happy about the great interest of the population.

quality of life through garden areas

With a cost contribution of 430 to 460 euros per year for a period of three and a half years, the new users have the option of using their garden parcels as resting places, barbecues or even for hobby agriculture. It should be emphasized that two areas in favorites have been awarded to the Juno association to separate and single parents, which strengthens social interaction.

The plots are divided by hedges and have their own pergolas. A joint building within the garden offers users amenities such as toilets, a cooking facility as well as water and power connections. In order to promote harmonious coexistence, the garden owners sign a garden order that is intended to ensure fair use and mutual consideration.

creative gardening and social connection

But the garden project is not only limited to these 49 plots. Vienna For years, neighborhood and community gardens have been supported under the motto "Gartels connects" together. This initiative aims to facilitate access to nature for all city dwellers and to promote community commitment.

Above all, the terms "Urban Farming" and "Urban Gardening" have become very important in recent years. These concepts offer citizens the opportunity to know about the production and quality of food and to develop new forms of urban agriculture, such as neighborhood gardens.

The many projects that have been implemented in recent years and others who are already being planned enrich the green areas in the various districts and contribute to promoting the sense of community. Overall, it can be seen that the city of Vienna with the Vienna Stadtgartl and the numerous other garden projects not only want to increase the quality of life of its inhabitants, but also wants to strengthen the feeling of community and cohesion in the city. As David Vladar, Head of Real Estate Management of the City of Vienna, emphasizes, the high demand for garden areas testifies to a great interest in these green oases.
