New day center in Muthgasse: For a better quality of life in old age!

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new day center in Muthgasse took place in Vienna today. From 2027, this center will offer space for 40 seniors every day, who will be looked after here according to their individual needs. This not only creates a meeting place and support for older people, but also around 13 new jobs in the areas of nursing, social work, occupational and physiotherapy as well as administration. The Vienna Social Fund (FSW) supports this project and thus shows a great commitment to the quality of life in the city. Loud courier With the new day center, the number of day centers in Vienna will increase to a total of 19.

The day center aims to promote the independence of the older generation and to support an alternative lifestyle in which seniors can remain living in their own four walls. At today's event, City Councilor for Social Affairs Peter Hacker underlined the positive impact of such facilities not only on the seniors themselves, but also on caring relatives and the overburdened health system. Thanks to the daily care in the day centers, doctor's visits and hospital stays can be reduced, as shown by the experience from the existing centers, in which 1,740 customers were already cared for in 2024 Vienna press reported.

Diverse offers for older people

The offerings in the new day center exceed common expectations: in addition to individual therapy and care measures, memory and movement training as well as social work support are on the agenda. The FSW believes that these measures help strengthen the body and memory of older people, which in turn improves their quality of life. As far as satisfaction is concerned, the FSW boasts an impressive satisfaction rate of 98%, which confirms the high level of acceptance of the existing offers.

From 2027, the Muthgasse day center will be an important part of the social infrastructure in Vienna. This step is part of the FSW's broader commitment, which not only supports the care of seniors, but has also abolished the so-called asset recourse, which means that the assets of the people cared for in care facilities will remain unaffected in the future. This ensures a liberal and fairer care arrangement. More information about the options that the FSW offers in day care can be found on the FSW website fsw.at.

Ultimately, this is an initiative that is likely to have a lasting positive impact on the lives of many people as they age. A good hand is demonstrated here, because a focus on independence and participation in society makes the quality of life significantly higher. The planning and implementation of this social policy measure is therefore not only necessary, but also future-oriented.
