Young Florianis inspire at the big fire brigade competition in St. Peter!
Over 600 young fire brigade members, the so-called Jungflorianis, competed against each other today in the performance competition and competition game in St. Peter-Freienstein. This impressive number of participants shows how great the enthusiasm for the youth fire service is in the region. The young rescuers came from four different fire departments and their commitment created a lively atmosphere.
While the young Florianis demonstrated their skills, 13 members of the St. Peter-Freienstein volunteer fire department successfully completed the fire service test. This took place on Saturday and had the aim of checking the fight against various types of fires - including barn, woodpile and liquid fires - within a set time. The participants again had to demonstrate their knowledge of firefighting by answering a question and showing the equipment in the emergency vehicle with the doors and blinds closed. As meinkreis.at reports, it was the “strictest” team of evaluators in Styria, led by the main evaluator Johann Stürzer. Helmut Ofner, Klaus Reinwald and newcomer Armin Saiger were also among the evaluators.
The examiners attached great importance to efficient and error-free implementation. There were words of praise from deputy area fire brigade commander BR Johann Diethart, who congratulated all 13 participants and presented bronze and silver badges. The firefighters can be particularly proud because all participants passed the test without any errors.
A comprehensive training program
The success of the fire brigade youth also has a lot to do with the conscientious training of the young Florians' disciples. The great work of the youth fire brigades is highly valued in the communities. An attractive training program not only imparts valuable knowledge, but also promotes teamwork and personal development. According to feuerwehrausbilden.de, the content relates to practical skills, such as mastering knots or the safe handling of firefighting equipment. Games that strengthen discipline and social behavior are also part of the program. It is important that the young people receive positive feedback at each service to promote their self-confidence.
The goal of the fire department youth is not only to learn technical skills, but also to develop personal responsibility and team spirit. The children should be introduced to the fascination of the fire service in order to convey values such as safety, a sense of responsibility and enthusiasm for action. As part of their training, the young fire brigade members have the opportunity to gain practical experience under supervision, be it in glass management or securing operational sites.
The St. Peter-Freienstein Volunteer Fire Department relies on in-depth training that not only prepares children and young people for missions, but also for the challenges of life. In this way, the young firefighters can be helpful and competent in their community and thus contribute to safety and cohesion in the region.
