Cultural Summer Vienna 2025: Over 500 free cultural acts for everyone!
Starting tomorrow it will be “Culture ahoy!” in Vienna. The Cultural summer 2025 opened on June 26th and runs through the city until August 10th with a colorful program of more than 500 events and around 2,000 artists. From cabaret and dance to literature and contemporary circus – there is something here for every taste.
The organizers rely on a motto that invites participation culture: “Culture is where you are”. Not only is access to art created here, but sustainability is also taken into account. Solar-powered stages and cool retreats are used to make the summer offerings environmentally conscious. Admission to all events is free for everyone, so that people with less access to cultural offerings can also benefit.
The literature program in focus
A highlight of the cultural summer is certainly the diverse literature program. Buecher.at reports on readings in fantastic locations. In Hyblerpark, Christian König will read from her debut “Alles was du wanted” (Otto Müller Verlag), while Isabella Straub will present her title “Nullzone” (Elster & Salis Vienna) in Waldmüllerpark. Christian Moser Sollmann presents further exciting readings with “Noble Lies” (Milena) and Herbert Hirschler from “Her mit der Marie” (Carl Ueberreuter).
Particularly noteworthy is the appearance of Ulrike Haidacher, Elias Hirschl and Barbi Marković in the 21st district, where they add creative facets to the topic of “Horror, Internet & Malibu” with their texts. The Black, Queer Poetry Showcase rounds off the literature offering - talented voices such as Gawdesque, Tayla and Kweku appear here.
Cultural summer stages and events
The events take place throughout the summer at various locations around the city, including:

The cultural summer opens with a sensational concert on June 26th and 27th from 7:30 p.m. on the Kaiserwiese in the Prater. For music lovers, there is a jazz brunch at Rathausplatz on Sundays from June 29th to August 31st from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. And for the little visitors, creative offers are provided in a children's program, which starts at 10:30 a.m. on selected days.
Cinematic highlights in the open-air cinema
The cultural summer is accompanied by other cultural offerings. The annual open-air film festival at Rathausplatz starts on June 28th and runs until August 31st. This year exciting films such as “Rigoletto” and “Sammy Davis Jr. and the Begging Student” will be shown. The cinema under the stars on Karlsplatz is also going into its sixth round and is screening the works of Peter Lorre and Michael Glawogger.
With such a wide range of offerings, the 2025 cultural summer is sure to be a hit! Whether literature, music or film – everyone will get their money’s worth this summer. We can look forward to all the creative forms of art that will bring our city to life.
