Lederergasse shines again: Green happiness for the people of Josefstadt!
The redesign of Lederergasse in Vienna has been completed and the result is impressive. The renovation, which was completed a few weeks ago, brings a breath of fresh air into the cityscape and ensures an increased quality of stay. The redesign will create a more attractive ambience and improve traffic safety. Thanks to the new trees and drinking fountains, the alley will become an even more endearing place for residents and visitors.
The connection between Florianigasse and Josefstädter Straße now shines in new splendor. Eleven new trees, including ten bladder ash trees and six cornelian cherries, were planted, which are not only visually enriching, but also improve the microclimate and store rainwater. This makes a small but important contribution to the environment. District leader Martin Fabisch from the Greens was enthusiastic about the implementation and emphasized the importance of such measures for sustainable urban development, which goes beyond mere appearance.
Sustainability in focus
The redesign of Lederergasse is not just a local measure. It fits into the broader strategy of sustainable urban development, which is also aimed at in the BMZ paper. The aim is to use the potential of cities for global climate and environmental protection. Measures like those in Lederergasse support the preservation of biodiversity and the reduction of social inequalities. This not only benefits local residents, but also helps the global community.
But the practical elements have not been neglected either: the new benches and bike racks invite you to linger and cycle, while the wider sidewalks offer pedestrians more space. The roadway was thoroughly renovated and one bus stop was even expanded into a double stop - another sign that everyone has been thought of here.
Exchange with the neighbors
A very important aspect of the redesign was close communication with the residents. During the entire construction phase, regular communication was sought to take the needs of the residents into account. This shows once again that successful urban development is based on dialogue and cooperation. When celebrating the almost completed renovation, Mayor Fabisch mentioned that such projects can only be realized with the commitment of everyone involved.
The celebrations that took place at the end of the construction work in the form of a street party were a nice conclusion to the project and a welcome to the new attractiveness of Lederergasse. Residents can now look forward to a space that not only impresses with its modern design, but also impresses with its sustainability.
This is a further step towards a livable and climate-friendly city. One thing is clear: Lederergasse will now be even more popular and become a beloved place for togetherness.
