Vienna in the spell of the right: Mega demo against migration on July 26th!

in Vienna will be hot at the end of July. On Saturday, July 26th, the Identitarian Movement in Austria invites you to a controversial "remigration" demonstration, which is to attract numerous right-wing extremists from all over Europe. The organizers expect around 500 participants, including many from the neighboring countries of Italy, Switzerland and Germany. A march through the inner city is planned, which begins at 1 p.m. on Karl-Lueger-Platz and lasts until the final rally on Am Gestade, which is expected to last until 9 p.m. The police have already confirmed the demonstration and is currently not seeing any evidence of potential crimes, but will be present by the State Office for State Security and Extremism if necessary.

The official title of the rally is "Information and clarification of passers-by about Vienna asylum and migration policy". With this campaign, the identities want to spread their own view of asylum and migration situation in Austria. The background to this mobilization is, among other things, the close observation of the identity movement by the constitutional protection in Germany, which is under pressure due to its extreme views and activities, such as the financing of a ship to defend refugee boats in the Mediterranean. The group, which calls itself "Defend Europe", plans to bring refugees back to Libya and pursues private aid organizations on the high seas.

counteractions announced

But the right slogans will not remain unjustified. In the past few days, numerous civil society groups, including Antifa Vienna and the NGO Attac, have called for counteractions. Antifa plans a blockade of the demonstration under the motto "No place for right". In addition, the district representative of Margareten organized a non -partisan street festival for the same day to set a sign of diversity and solidarity. Supported by the Greens, the SPÖ, the KPÖ/left, the Neos and the Queeren Center Qwien, the festival will take place in Siebenbrunnengasse 26-31. Refreshing snacks, cold drinks, music and even a drag show are planned

In the meantime, society remains vigilant. In a recent German -language rally, tens of thousands of people in Vienna have expressed their resentment against right -wing extremism. Prominent voices from art and culture have loudly commented and pointed out the dangers that assume extreme ideologies. Erich Fenninger from the platform for a human asylum policy warned of the "deportation fantasies" of the right -wing extremists, which stand in strong contrast to the concerns of organizations that are committed to a decent asylum policy.

The situation is tense, and many citizens, especially people with foreign roots, express concern about developments. Discussions about flight and the fears in the community illustrate that the discussions about migration and asylum are of great importance in today's world.

With the planned demonstrations and counter -actions on July 26, it is once more evident how important social discourse is about these topics. It remains to be seen how the day will develop and which signs are set for society.
