Drug raid in Vienna: Dealer attacks officers – chaos at Yppenplatz!

On November 12, 2025, around 2:40 p.m., the task force to combat street crime (EGS) put an end to a drug trade in Vienna. The officers carried out house searches in the Innere Stadt, Josefstadt and Alsergrund, where they encountered three Bulgarian nationals aged 26 and 32. They were temporarily arrested and are currently in police custody. More than 1.6 kilograms of cocaine and cash in the low five-figure range were seized Today reported.

However, the raid was not without incident: a suspect attacked an EGS officer, resulting in a fall down the stairs in which both the attacker and the police officer were injured. The injured officer was unable to continue his duties while further investigations into those arrested and possible accomplices continue.

The fight against drug crime

At around 3:45 p.m. there was another police operation in which two more drug sellers - a 24-year-old Somali and a 23-year-old Serb - were arrested in a public space. Here too, the police were able to seize several grams of cocaine, almost 150 grams of marijuana and cannabis resin. In order to prevent further incidents in the area, a ban on entry was issued to the protection zone at Yppenplatz.

The EGS's most recent operations clearly show how seriously the city of Vienna takes the fight against drug-related crime. The authorities are striving to ensure safety in the city's neighborhoods and to eliminate street dealers. The police investigations send a strong message: there will be no let-up in the effort to effectively combat drug trafficking.

The people of Vienna can only hope that these measures will help in the long term to curb the drug problem in the city and create a safe environment. In the meantime, it remains to be seen what consequences the arrests will have for the dealers and the drug markets in Vienna. Authorities will continue to closely monitor what is happening in different parts of the city.
