Johannes Dietl triumphs at the national competition Prima la Musica”!
A shining star in the Viennese music sky! Johannes Dietl, a talented trumpeter from Mariazell, celebrated a great success at the national competition “Prima la Musica” at the Vienna University of Music. June 11, 2025 will remain unforgettable for the young musician, who won second prize in age group 2 with 88 points. The competition is one of the largest youth music competitions in Austria and aims to promote musical talent among young people and offer them a stage. With this honor, Johannes not only made himself proud, but also his homeland. My district reports that...
“Prima la Musica” takes place every year and encourages participants to demonstrate their skills. The best from the state competitions are invited to the national competition, which is held alternately according to instrument groups at different locations in Austria. Music of Youth adds that the event attracts and promotes young talent not only in Austria, but also in South Tyrol and Liechtenstein. What is particularly impressive is that young people of other nationalities are also allowed to take part, provided they have had their main residence in Austria since a certain date.
A talented student and his path to success
Johannes is a student of Peter Vami, and during his performance he was accompanied on the piano by music teacher Ana Cosme. This wonderful support shows how important mentors are in the development of young musicians. The experienced teachers play a major role in passing on their knowledge and skills to the next generation and preparing them for competitions such as Prima la Musica.
The diversity of talent that comes to light in such competitions is also reflected in the history of the UPPER AUSTRIAN YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. This includes the best young musicians in the country and serves as a platform for learning symphonic music and making music together. The state music school portal reports that the JSO regularly works with well-known conductors and soloists and is characterized by its high quality. This once again makes it clear how important it is to support the musical training and promotion of young talent.
With his impressive performance and the award at the national competition, Johannes Dietl has once again proven that music education in Austria is bearing fruit. It will be exciting to see where this path will take him next!
