Protest in Floridsdorf: Settlers' association demands better bus connection 20A!

In Floridsdorf, nerves are on edge: the Bruckdecken settlers' association and the district administration are visibly dissatisfied with bus line 20A. There is particular criticism of the unpunctuality of the buses and the speeding in the 30 zones, which continue to be an explosive issue. Concerned residents recently gathered for a protest at the Josef-Melichar-Gasse station to vent their displeasure over the unfulfilled expectations. The ZuklinBus GmbH is responsible for the operation of this bus line and is therefore clearly under pressure.

In April 2025, the timetable was changed to reflect the needs of school children and to allow for closer intervals. However, despite these adjustments, the problems have not diminished. District leader Georg Papai (SPÖ) states that the promised improvements were not implemented by the company in the desired manner. In order to clarify the situation, a round table was convened, which was also attended by representatives of Wiener Linien.

Steps for improvement

ZuklinBus agreed to take part in the discussions in order to control operational processes more strictly and to adjust the school route at short notice. Consequences have already been drawn within the company: two drivers who exceeded the permitted speed were either offered a personal interview or were fired. This seems to be having an effect: no further speeding violations have been detected in the past two weeks, and ZuklinBus speaks of a noticeable improvement in the overall situation.

Nevertheless, the challenges are diverse. Delays and bus cancellations can be attributed to internal reasons such as vehicle breakdowns and driver shortages, but external factors such as traffic jams, accidents and road closures also contribute to the chain of problems. ZuklinBus is examining the entire situation and is planning regular coordination with Wiener Linien in order to permanently eliminate these difficulties.
