The Vienna tourism industry celebrated its traditional summer festival on June 18, 2025 at the Allianz Stadium in Hütteldorf. As part of the event, the coveted industry awards “Golden Schani” and “Golden Jetti” were awarded, which honor the most beautiful bar gardens and the most creative leisure activities in the city. The Amerlingbeisl in the 7th district received a special award as a “Hidden Jewel”. New in the “Above the Roofs” category was the rooftop bar “Chez Bernard” in the 6th district, which impresses with its breathtaking view.

But it wasn't just the bar gardens that were the focus of the evening. The “Golden Jetti” was also awarded, which honors exciting projects and leisure opportunities in the city. The “Johann Strauss Museum – New Dimensions” won first place in the “Culture and Experience” category. The Waldseilpark Kahlenberg was able to convince the jury in the “Body and Mind” category and also received an award. These prizes, named after “Jetti Tant”, a pioneer in leisure activities for children, show the breadth and diversity of Vienna’s leisure activities.
Vienna tourism on record
The Vienna tourism industry can also look back on a record number of overnight stays last year, with positive feedback from over 3,600 Viennese surveyed confirming that 9 out of 10 residents have a positive attitude towards tourism. These stable values were maintained even after the challenges of the pandemic, especially during surveys that were part of expanded market and marketing research, such as this Vienna Tourism reported.
The chairman of the tourism and leisure industry division, Markus Grießler, spoke about the current challenges that restaurateurs are facing. Increasing prices for energy and food as well as the shortage of skilled workers have placed great demands on the industry. Nevertheless, there is a trend towards roof terraces and increased outdoor enjoyment, which is at the top of the list given the hot summer days.
With these awards and the positive development in tourism, Viennese tourism experts are looking optimistically into the future - it will be exciting to see how the gastronomy and leisure industry will continue to develop in the coming years.
