Austria Vienna keeps young talent Ndukwe: contract signed until 2028!
The talent Ifeanyi Ndukwe has caused a stir in the football scene. The 17-year-old was brought up to professional training by FK Austria Wien from the Young Violets and recently extended his contract until 2028. This shows that the management has great confidence in the centre-back's abilities. Ndukwe, who is an impressive 1.98 meters tall and comes from Brigittenau, will be gradually introduced into the first team while he continues to gain important match practice in the ADMIRAL 2nd league.
Particularly noteworthy is the decision that the young player had to make in April: a chief scout from Inter Milan was on site during a Young Violets game in Krems and wanted to sign Ndukwe in order to integrate him into the professional team in the long term. But the talented defender decided to stay at Austria Vienna, which underlines the club's appreciation for him, as confirmed by his agent Georg Lederer from More than Sports. In recent months, Ndukwe has attracted attention for his performances and was eventually promoted from the U18 team to the Young Violets.
The path to becoming a professional
Ifeanyi Ndukwe already showed leadership skills as captain of the U16 championship team last summer. After just half a year at U18 level, he was given a regular place in central defense under coach Max Uhlig this winter after the previous player Valentin Toifl was unavailable due to injury. He proved his talent in 13 appearances in the Regionalliga East and made a significant contribution to the runner-up championship, which resulted in promotion to the ADMIRAL 2nd League. Preparations with the professionals begin on June 23rd and offer Ndukwe the opportunity to develop further.
An important aspect of talent development is the young athlete's environment. Research shows that parental support, relationships with coaches and dealing with criticism play a crucial role in success in sport. Many young talents find it difficult to make the leap into professional football: an ARD study showed that of over 5,700 former U19 players, only 3.5% made it into the squad of a professional club. Ndukwe is aware of these challenges and is working hard to develop.
Big plans for the future
The Kahlenberg, where Ndukwe likes to spend relaxing moments with his brother, was not only a place of peace, but also inspiration for his personal motif at the contract signings. He describes the calm atmosphere as perfect for his character — a nice sign that the young player remains grounded despite the pressure that comes with professional football. The road to the Bundesliga is rocky, but with the right fundamentals and the support of his club, Ifeanyi Ndukwe could soon be one of the names that are very popular in the Austrian football scene.
