Dorint returns to Vienna in 2028: high-rise building with rooftop bar!

The new hotspot will open in Vienna at the end of 2028: The Dorint Hotel Weitblick will bring a breath of fresh air to the Austrian capital. After almost two decades, the Cologne hotel group is now returning and has signed a 30-year rental agreement with Strabag Real Estate. This makes the hotel the group’s third hotel in Austria – after Salzburg and Kitzbühel. Construction work on the 120 meter high mixed-use building in the “Viertel Zwei” urban development area began in January 2025 Strabag Real Estate reports.

The ambitious project extends over 35 floors and offers numerous amenities. With a total of 298 rooms, including 28 long-stay units, the hotel will cater to both business and leisure travelers. A special feature is the all-day dining restaurant and the coffee bar, which will be available to guests every day. Eight modern event rooms are available for meetings and events Hotelvor9 reported.

A highlight in a class of its own

A very special highlight of the Dorint Hotel will be the publicly accessible rooftop bar on the 35th floor, which, with its 700 square meter terrace, offers a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view of the Danube, the Kahlenberg, the Prater and the city of Vienna. Hoga magazine points out that this concept is another sign of Vienna's continued popularity as a tourism and business location.

The project is not only architecturally impressive, but also focuses on sustainability. The hotel will be equipped with a modern energy center that will provide CO2-free heating and cooling and efficiently use renewable resources. In addition, smart home elements and flexible building technology are planned to make the hotel future-proof.

A strategic move by Dorint

For Dorint, returning to Vienna is an important strategic step in the long-term expansion strategy in Austria. With its proximity to the business university, the trotting track and the Ernst Happel Stadium, “Viertel Zwei” offers a great location that attracts not only tourists, but also residents, students and employees of surrounding companies. The good accessibility via the nearby U2 subway line is also an advantage that should not be underestimated.

Overall, Dorint looks back on a long history and will be 65 years old next year. With the opening of the Hotel Weitblick, the company is setting an example and cementing its place in the Austrian hotel market, where one can look forward to an exciting new chapter.
