Free sports courses in summer: Get moving in the park” in Brigittenau!

In summer, the Brigittenau parks transform into true hotspots for exercise and health. Starting today, June 10, 2025, the free program “Bewegt im Park” invites all sports enthusiasts and those who want to become sports enthusiasts to a variety of courses in the Forsthauspark and the park at Friedrichs-Engels-Platz. From Monday to Thursday, those interested can take part without prior registration and enjoy the diverse offering until September. The initiative aims to integrate exercise into everyday life in a low-threshold manner and also promote social exchange. The Federal Ministry for Housing, Art, Culture, Media and Sport explains that over 700 free courses are offered throughout Austria.

What do we find in the program? The selection is impressive! On Monday, the day starts with Pilates from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., where the participants tackle their body shaping and strengthening of spinal and pelvic floor muscles with Stefanie Wagner. Tuesday is also busy: from 6 p.m. there will be sporty events with “Workout Fiesta”, followed by “Afterwork Mobility” at 7 p.m. to offer some relaxation and harmony between body and mind. Wednesday classes offer special offerings for men and women, including gymnastics with stretching exercises and back and abdominal strengthening.

The joint initiative, which has existed since 2016, is financed with a budget of 828,000 euros, supported by renowned institutions such as Umbrella association of social insurance providers and Viennese health promotion. Over 520 trained trainers ensure that each course is optimally designed for the participants. The variety ranges from yoga to Zumba to Tai Chi – there is something for everyone!

In order to bring fun and fitness into the cold season, participants are encouraged to bring comfortable sports clothing, a water bottle and possibly a mat or a large towel. And even if you don't need to register, it's worth trying out the courses. If you want to keep moving, the Brigittenau Parks are the perfect place.
