On Monday afternoon, a dispute in a multi -party house on Gellertplatz in the Favorites district caused excitement. According to Kurier , the Vienna police were alerted after a verbal argument between several people escalated. During this argument, a party pulled out a knife, which led to considerable injuries.

A total of four people were injured. Three of the victims suffered cuts through the knife, while another was injured by the use of pepper spray. The Vienna career rescue took care of the injuries. A man with stab wounds in the upper body had to be taken to a clinic, but there is no danger to life. Two other people received medical help on site and were then released into home care.

Investigations run at full speed

The search for the perpetrators was initiated immediately. Two unknown people fled after the crime, but the investigators were already able to identify one of the suspects. During a search of his apartment, the police found the alleged crime knife. Unfortunately, the suspect was not present at the time of the search. It is particularly alarming that one of the suspected minors is, which again brings a word about the renewable generations on the residents' lips.

These incidents are not an isolated case in Vienna, which in 2023, with around 186,000 crimes reported compared to the other federal states, occupies a sad top position. According to the latest data, the education rate 2023 was 52.3%, which means a minimal increase compared to the previous year. Trust in the police also does not remain unaffected, 77% of the respondents in spring 2024 expressed that they would trust the police.

The incident at Gellertplatz not only raises questions about individual security, but also reflects the increasing awareness of crime in Vienna. The Viennese are known for their joke and serenity, but it turns out here that there are a lot of responsibility for the residents.
