There is news from the cultural world of Carinthia: As part of the coveted “Heads of the Year” award, five outstanding personalities will be nominated in the culture category this year. These talents have significantly influenced cultural life in the region in recent years and are up for election to receive this honorable recognition. The nominations impressively demonstrate the talent and diversity that Carinthia has to offer, and the voting opportunity has already opened.
The first nomineeDonna Angel, comes from Althofen and began her career as a singer and songwriter. Her live performances were temporarily interrupted during the Corona period, but in 2024 she successfully took part in the TV format “The Big Chance” and reached the semi-finals. She brings a breath of fresh air to the cultural scene and is seen by many as an up-and-coming star.
Another exciting nominee isJulia Steenfrom Bruckl. Since her participation in “Starmania” and her appearance at “Starnacht am Wörthersee” she has made a name for herself. Her best-known songs “Tornado” and “Ladadidada” in particular have earned her regular appearances and radio presence, making her an integral part of the Carinthian music scene.
Fresh talent and experience
WithMarie Fischer, who comes from Feldkirchen, there is a new voice ready that could take the listeners' hearts by storm. In 2023 she released her first single “Therapy” under the stage name Marie-Ann. In her music she combines classic pop feelings with a modern sound and has already released another catchy song with “I think I’m in love”. Her versatile talents in dancing, singing and various instruments make her a real all-rounder.
Stefan Lichtenegger, who comes from St. Veit, brings with him the experience of a talented musician. He received his first drum lessons at the Althofen Music School and continued his training at the Carinthian State Conservatory and in Vienna. In addition to taking over the local court, he is also actively involved in large orchestras, including the renowned Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The list of talents is throughThomas Wallisch Schauercompleted his degree in jazz guitar at the Carinthian State Conservatory with distinction. He completed his studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1997 with summa cum laude. His concert activities have taken him through Europe, Asia, South America and the USA, cementing his international reputation.
The role of music festivals
In this context, it is interesting to mention that music festivals in Germany are considered important cultural venues and economic drivers. According to a current study funded by the federal government, the approximately 1,800 music festivals show great stylistic openness and offer a platform for many young artists.
